The house is situated in the Vendee region of Western France with the Atlantic on its Western Coast, La Rochelle to the South and Nantes and Brittany to the North. The village of Saint Martin des Fontaines is located on the borders of the Vendee and the Charante-maratime with the flat plains to the south and the rolling hills of the bocage to the north. To the east you have the pretty villages of Mervent and Vouvant nestled in the large surrounding forest and to the south east the protected area of the marais poitevin with picture postcard villages in the venice vert (green venice)
