The Farmhouse is a 5 bedroom cottage with exposed beams and open fireplace, tastefully renovated, comfortably furnished and retaining character and original features. The gite is located on the edge of a village and within easy walking distance of local amenities. The micro climate in the Vendee makes this area ideal for walking, cycling, bird-watching or just relaxing. Leisure facilities include a large swimming pool, sunbathing terrace, large lawn suitable for games, children's play area and an open barn with bar area, BBQ, fridge and patio furniture.

The kitchen. This is a traditional French oak fitted kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, fridge, electric oven and gas hob. The kitchen is furnished with a table and chairs to seat four people. The kitchen leads to a dining room with large table and seating for 12 people.

Living area. There is a large lounge furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs with patio doors opening onto the courtyard, an open fireplace and exposed beams. The lounge has a 36" wide screen TV with English language satellite channels and a DVD player.

Bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a double bed, exposed beamed ceiling and there is an en-suite bathroom comprising of bath with shower over, toilet and wash basin, there is a pine Mothercare cot in this bedroom. Bedroom 2 sleeps 4 people and has a set of bunk beds and 2 single beds, there are a selection of toys, a TV and films in this room. Bedroom 3 sleeps 3/4 people and has a king size bed plus a single bed, there is a single futon bed in this room if required. Bedroom 4, sleeps 2 with a large cabin bed with 2 x 80cm single mattresses. The fifth bedroom is situated on the ground floor and is a double bedroom.

Bathroom and Toilets. Ensuite Bathroom with bath and shower over, wash basin and toilet. There is also a Bathroom with bath, wash basin and bidet. Seperate toilet. On the ground floor there is another shower room and a separate toilet.

Garden and outdoor facilities. The gite has its own private seating area with tables, chairs and individual BBQ's, perfect for enjoying al fresco dining. A super 10 x 5m swimming pool. Behind the pool is a large lawn suitable for games and outdoor activities. Adjacent to the pool is a large traditional open barn equipped with a BBQ, fridge, tables and chairs. This area is undercover and provides plentiful shade for those hot days. There are various activities including books, games and toys suitable for all ages to enjoy. The children's play area is situated to the side of the courtyard. The play area is equipped with a play frame comprising of climbing platform, slide and swing. There is an additional swing in the tree.

Miscellaneous. There is a full size cot and highchair in the Farmhouse and a travel cot and an extra highchair can be provided on request. Well behaved and friendly pets will be considered. In the village you will find a bar/tabac, post office, bakers, small basic grocery shop, restaurant with bar and take away pizzeria, and hairdresser. The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes away and 20 minutes to the Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte (with large Saturday street market) and the city of Niort. Both have large hypermarkets, restaurants and many other shops and boutiques.

Location. Ideally located minutes away from the A83 motorway, 3 hrs from St Malo and 4hrs from Caen ferry ports. 1hr from La Rochelle, Nantes and Poitiers airports which are served by the low cost airlines. 5 minutes from the canals of the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice). The forest at Mervent and lakeside beaches are within 15 minutes and the historic harbour town of La Rochelle, the Atlantic Coast and Futuroscope theme park are all within 1 hour. Available all year and has central heating.

Activities. Venise Verte (Green Venice) a vast area of wetlands reclaimed from the sea a thousand years ago, the Marais is ideal for walking. Maillezais is 10 minutes away with its historic Abbey of St Peter founded in the 10th century; there are a couple of nice restaurants here. Mervent Forest is less than half an hour away and has over 12,000 acres of mixed woodland, with over thirty varieties of tree. There are inland lakes, some with lakeside beaches and water sports, a small zoo and an amusement park (Parc Pierre Brune). The forest provides ideal days out for walking, riding, cycling and picnics. Close to Mervent forest is the beautiful village of Vouvant with its Romanesque church. Just an 45/60 mins drive to the lovely Vendee coast, known for its wonderful coastline and year round warm climate, vast sandy beaches, sea fishing, mussel and oyster farming. Beaches close by include L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Faute sur Mer, La Tranche sur Mer and Les Sables d'Olonne famous for its boat races such as the Vendee Globe, fantastic beach and Zoo. The beautiful historic harbour of La Rochelle with its two towers and the Aquarium, La Rochelle has some of the best seafood restaurantsin this area. You can take a boat trip from here to visit the islands. The island of Ile de Re, accessible by car, has fantastic beaches with calm shallow waters, the island hosts numerous oyster bed farms which sell direct to the public. Puy du Fou provides entertainment for the whole day, a must see attraction.
